Every year there are players who come out of nowhere and shake up the entire league. Could one of these players be on your team? I’ll breakdown who I think the most likely candidate is for each team.
BiJettas - Parker Washington
Everyone’s been saying this is his year. He performed well towards the end of last year and in training camp. Washington has the opportunity to breakout into the Jags WR1 role this year. However, he has to contend with 3 other solid receivers in BTJ, Jakobi Meyers, and maybe even Travis Hunter.
Magic in the Hampton - JK Dobbins
Dobbins is fighting to return to an RB1 role after suffering multiple injuries over the last couple seasons. He has the talent, the question is can he stay healthy, and how much of a threat will RJ Harvey pose?
Threepeat - Matthew Golden
The expectations were through the roof for Golden as a rookie. Now with the spotlight gone, and Doubs and Wicks traded off the roster, Matthew has a golden 😏 opportunity to shine as a WR2 this year for Green Bay.
Immaculate Concepcion - Jonathan Brooks
Brooks’ spent his rookie and sophomore seasons sidelined due to injuries, but the former second round pick out of Texas has all the pieces necessary to have a breakout year. With Hubbard week to week due to injury, it feels like Brooks could be this year’s Rico Dowdle.
Maltby’s Mans - Jordan Mason
Last year, Mason was a non-factor for the Vikings rushing attack. But with Kylar Murray at the helm instead of JJ McCarthy (9️⃣), the Vikings should see improvement to the offense as a whole. Keep in mind that Aaron Jones Sr is 31 years old. Could Mason move into the RB1 role for Minnesota?
Sauce - Mike Evans
After spending most of last season on the bench, everyone seemingly forgot about Mike Evans. He may be at the tail end of his career, but during that time he has been one of the most consistent WRs in the NFL. San Francisco could be the perfect spot for Evans, as he will not face much competition in terms of target share.
Strib Club - De’Zhaun Stribling
If not for Mike Evans, Stribling may be an even hotter name on draft boards this year. Stribling’s college career can be described as consistent and productive. Often times, rookies are phased into their roles slowly in the NFL, but not always. If Stribling shows promise at the start if the year, expect him to be given more opportunities as the season progresses.
Chathamite - Kyle Monangai
Monangai showed a lot of promise last year as a rookie, especially when Swift was on the bench due to minor injuries. Bear’s HC Ben Johnson has been gassing up his offense all offseason. Expect a lot of points from Chicago this year.
The Brumderdogs - Kenyon Sadiq
Tight Ends are not often considered to be sleepers, but given Sadiq’s freakish combine performance, combined with not much competition in terms of the Jets’ pass catchers, Sadiq has all the makings of a breakout candidate.
2 Warrens 1 Love - Kenny Gainwell
Gainwell differentiated himself last year as one of the top receiving backs in the NFL. In a full PPR fantasy league, the value for these types of players increases immensely. Although Bucky Irving will see the bulk of the touches, do not be surprised to see Kenny ripping off a long catch and run as the alternate back.
