However, just because football season hasn’t officially started, that hasn’t stopped its chaos from affecting players and owners alike. In this Week 0 edition of Michael's Weekly Fantasy, we’ll be exploring the situation surrounding Josh Jacobs and its ramifications. Now, let’s get into the news. Last week, Josh Jacobs (RB1 for the Green Bay Packers) was formally charged in the state of Wisconsin with misdemeanor battery and misdemeanor criminal damage to property. Per ESPN’s Rob Demovsky:
“The charges stemmed from an alleged incident on May 23rd with a woman at Jacobs’ home in the Green Bay area … the woman was trying to exit Jacobs’ garage when he ‘grabbed her and threw her to the ground and she struck her head, suffering an injury.’”
If these allegations are true, things are not looking good for Jacobs. As with all such cases, the NFL is allowing a formal investigation to take place. During this investigation, Jacobs will remain sidelined, prohibited from practice or play with his team. The added wrinkle to this case is alleged surveillance footage capturing the incident. Were this footage to be leaked, public perception might shift so severely that Packers management would have no choice but to cut Jacobs from the team. This is just one of the many possibilities; it may still be the case that Jacobs is innocent, but only time will tell.
The situation as a whole is upsetting, but I’d prefer to keep my articles lighthearted. So let’s discuss the ramifications for fantasy owners. As Jacobs is listed as ‘Day to Day,’ it is uncertain when/if he will return to play this year. This primarily affects Sauce, who drafted Jacobs with the 28th overall pick in the third round of this year’s draft. According to advanced statistics sourced from duckfucks.com, Jacobs averaged 15.7 points per game over 15 total games played in the 2025 regular season. His Floor (20th-percentile performance) was 4.8 points, but his Boom Week percentage of 38% and his carry share of 56% led to a top 10 RB performance last year, tied for average points with Javonte and Kyren Williams. Overall, Jacobs was a reliable RB2 with the potential for 30+ point games. The loss of Jacobs can only be described as a major blow to Team Sauce, which was already a bottom-half team prior to the allegations according to our rankings specialist, Pichael Pinzel.
In a savvy move, Jacobs’ backup, MarShawn Lloyd, was scooped up by Strib Club last Thursday evening immediately following the news of formal charges brought against Jacobs. Strib Club, already reeling from an injury to his own RB2, Ashton Jeanty, made a quality addition to his team. Lloyd, projected by ESPN to score 13.79 points in Week 1, will likely serve as a Flex option in the near future. Many leaguemates also recognized the potential for a trade between Sauce and Strib Club, as the acquisition of Lloyd “handcuffed” Sauce. However, early yesterday evening, reports from the Strib Club camp indicated that no such trade would take place. Less than an hour later, a 3 for 3 player trade between Sauce and Brumderdogs hit the League Chat.
I’d like to take a moment to recognize the significance of this trade. In the short history of the Chatham Moms Fantasy Football League, trades have been uncommon and generally lacking in league-wide impact. Seeing a trade of this magnitude bodes well for the league, which also recently expanded from 8 to 10 owners. Trades are part of what makes Fantasy Football so fun, and I’d love to see more of them happen.
By now, most of you have probably all seen the contents of the trade, but for those of you who only get their news from MWF (looking at you, Duck), here was the agreement:

Let’s break this down. Starting with the obvious, Sauce was in desperate need of a quality RB, which is what he got in Saquon Barkley. He also acquired Chuba Hubbard, who mainly serves as a depth player, and Garrett Wilson, who projects to be a solid WR2 this year despite playing for the Jets, due to his high expected target share. On the flip side, he gave up his keeper CeeDee Lamb, who scored 20+ points in 6 out of the 11 games he played in last year. He also gave up D’Andre Swift who is expected to take a step forward in a surging Chicago offense under second year Head Coach, Ben Johnson. When asked for a comment by MWF, here is what Sauce had to say about his trade with The Brumderdogs:
“I think the trade worked for both of us. Josh Jacobs got suspended, so I needed a running back as my RB depth chart was shallow. I think Garrett Wilson also has a lot of potential, even though he might be a little bit of a tossup this season. I also think CeeDee Lamb is going to have to share a lot of targets with Pickens which will lower his overall performance. I think getting rid of Swift and receiving Saquon in return is also beneficial. The Bears O-line looks good this year so Swift should do well, but on the other hand Saquon is a stronger overall running back who just suffered from a poor season last year. Overall, I think this trade benefits both of us. [Brumderdogs] is able to get a stronger wide receiver on his roster, while I’m also able to strengthen my running back corps. Boswell and Hubbard were just sweeteners for the deal.”
Thank you to Sauce for the excellent breakdown. I have nothing further to add on his side of the deal, as I think he covered everything. As for the other side, The Brumderdogs are clearly making a play by swinging for CeeDee. With this addition, he will have a core composed of CeeDee Lamb, Malik Nabers, and James Cook. All three of these players could have a massive year, but the rest of the Brumderdogs squad is unimpressive. I expect his team to be very boom or bust week to week (look out 200+ Club and Sub-100 Club). MWF did not receive a comment from The Brumderdogs’ owner, Mr. Khan.
Lastly, let’s take a look at what owners around the league had to say about the deal. MWF asked select owners for anonymous comments on the blockbuster trade, here is some of what was said:
“I think it was a necessary trade for Sauce, and I do think both teams come out slightly better. Not enough to move the needle, though.” - Owner A
“[The trade] made two bottom of the MWF power ranking teams into two still bottom of the MWF power ranking teams.” - Owner B

When asked on a scale from 1-10 how he would feel about playing either Sauce or Brumderdogs right now, one owner commented, “I don’t think it changed [Brumderdogs] at all for me. Cook, Swift, Malik, and CeeDee are still pretty good. 6/10. [Sauce], on the other hand, Achane, Saquon, god dam… but Garret Wilson? Zay flowers? 4/10.” Well said, league owner.
